Deep groove ball bearings commonly support radial load and moderate axial load. Angular contact bearings or matched pairs are used where axial thrust and shaft location require greater control. Larger arrangements may use cylindrical roller bearings for radial load.

When does a pump need paired angular contact bearings?

A paired arrangement may be selected when axial thrust, stiffness or shaft-location requirements exceed a single bearing. DB, DF or DT arrangement, preload and orientation must match the pump design and should not be inferred from the base model alone.

Can a 2RS bearing prevent pump leakage?

No. Bearing seals mainly retain lubricant and limit contamination at the bearing. Pump process-fluid leakage must be controlled by the pump shaft-sealing and isolation system.

What information is needed to cross-reference a pump bearing?

Provide the full bearing number and suffix, pump drawing or arrangement, dimensions, radial and axial loads, speed, lubrication, fits, clearance, pairing or preload, and service environment.
